Rob Butcher was a member of Terrapin Masters for one year (Sep 1996 - Aug 1997) both as a coach and as a swimmer. During that year he not only inspired all of us with his unbounded enthusiasm and outgoing personality, but he also swam the following times at USMS nationals:

Note: All 1st place times qualified him for the 1997 US Open meet in Indianapolis. In the 50 breast, he was 2nd to Seth Van Neederen who was 6th place at the 1996 Olympic Trials in the 100 breast.

Rob left his position at the University of Maryland Athletics Department to move to Florida. He moved for professional and personal reasons. His fiancee lives in Miami and he also manages Rowdy Gaines Swimming and started a company which develops and promotes motivational messages. The name of his company is Experience it. Rob's company develops positive messages, graphically designs the images, and then prints them on clothing. It is their goal to encourage people to "live their dreams" and experience all life has to offer.

Rob also manages Rowdy Gaines Swimming. Rowdy Gaines Swimming is a one day swim clinic which can be conducted at USS & Masters clubs across the country. For more information see Rob's web page.

Rob is engaged to Heather Gordon, a Florida triathlete. They will be married on February 7, 1998.
