Interview

Jane Kleine West began swimming with Terrapin Masters in 1990. She assumed coaching responsibilities in 1994 and has continued to improve her swimming times every year. She is rated top ten in numerous USMS long distance freestyle events. She came in 1st in the 800m free at USMS nationals in 1996, 1997, and 1998 as well as 1st in the 400m in 1997. She was the 1st female finisher in 1998 and placed 1st or 2nd in her age group in every year that she swam the Chesapeake Bay Swim (1994 - 1998), a tough 4.4 mile course with challenging currents and unpredictable waves, weather, and temperature.

Jane has degrees in Graphics Arts and Kinesiology from the University of Maryland and is currently completing another degree in Physical Education.

She was married to Terrapin member and coach, Sean West, at USMS long course nationals in Florida on August 15, 1997. Jane and Sean live in Silver Spring, Maryland.
