Team Meeting & Minutes
January 3, 2006
by MLee
I hope you had a great holiday season! I want to share with you some of the "out-of-the-pool" stuff we've been working on for Terrapin Master. I know you're busy, so I'll try to keep it brief:
1. First, we've scheduled a team meeting Saturday, January 21st, to be held after practice. Folks at the last meeting wanted the interim Board (Carolyn Voorhees, Diana Corbin, and Michael Lee) to hold early elections in January. As a result, we've scheduled the January 21st meeting, which will be held in the glass room near the women's locker room. We hope you'll be able to participate.
2. The Terrapin 2006 team registration forms were delivered to PVMS registrar. Team fees were $50 for the year. The interim Board asked Cheryl Wagner to function as the team's prime conduit for USMS information, Diana Corbin our second contact, and Jim Nealis as the team's registrar. The three graciously agreed. Cheryl and/or Diana will also be the team's PVMS representatives.
3. We provided Campus Recreation with a proposal on how the team will continue to work with Campus Recreation. The draft proposal was largely structured by Charlie Hoffman with input from Carolyn Voorhees, Michael Lee, Diana Corbin, Bill Shipp, Cheryl Wagner and Jim Nealis.
4. We're on schedule for holding the Terrapin Cup again this year. We hope to provide more information shortly.
5. Below are my personal minutes from the last team meeting, in case you'd like to read them.
Best,
Michael Lee
Personal minutes from the the last team meeting
November 12, 2005 Terrapin Team Meeting
1. Eleven people attended the meeting. We didn't have a quorum to hold elections. Folks present thought we should consider holding early elections for a full board of five in January either for a short term or for a longer than a year term. If this does not occur, then elections will coincide with the annual Terrapin Banquet.
2. People were concerned that we might not be able to swim in the pool. Bill Shipp and Michael Lee shared with the participants that this issue has largely been settled, although we owe CRS a proposal and the memorandum of understanding (MOU) to finalize the agreement.
3. Bill Shipp's created an MOU with input from University of Maryland legal staff. Michael Lee also told meeting participants that he was interested in sharing the draft proposal with a larger group and Carrie Tupper, before it's finalized and sent to Jay Gilchrist. Chalie Hoffman and several others took the lead in drafting the proposal. Several participants at the meeting wanted to see the proposal and make comments. The offer to share the proposal is extend.
4. We mentioned the tie between having large swim meets that can raise revenues and keep Terrapin swipe card fees down -- thereby helping all Terrapins.
5. People suggested making timing at a varsity meet a team focus to initiate a trade in services with the varsity team.
6. Adding variety to morning workouts was discussed.
