November 4 & 11 2001~ Meadow Creek Park is a small mostly wooded park I just discovered
at the north end of town, just by the major North/South artery, Rte 29. Not being the most intrepid
of outdoorsy types, I find it oddly reassuring to hear cars whizzing by at 50 miles an hour a few hundred
feet from me despite the fact that my eyes are telling me that I'm in the middle of nowhere. I think I've missed
the best of the fall color, but still there was enough prettiness to keep me hiking the short trial (which was only
distinguishable from non-trail because the leaf-litter was a little more crushed there) for quite some time. In addition
to the woodsy area, the park also contains small plots of land people can rent to grow vegetables in. That was way,
way past its prime this time of year, but looks like it was very pretty and interesting during the growing season.
I will definitely be back checking on the seasonal progress.
